Welcome to Girl about townhouse blog, shiny new internet friend!
I’m more than a little bit excited that you’re here.
Anyone who knows me well, will have heard me wittering on about how I plan to start a blog and seen me furiously scribbling in a note pad for the last year or so. I could not be happier that this little blog has finally come to life, after existing in my head for such a long time. Please excuse me while I do a mini dance of happiness in the corner…
Ahem, that was awkward. I promise there will be no more dancing.
Now that’s over, I can get back to being all professional and tell you a little about me, why I started this blog and what you can expect when you visit in the future.
About me
I’m Caroline. Freelance writer, graphic designer and newbie blogger, with a passion for all things creative. I like good coffee (all about those pumpkin spice lattes right now) and I’m obsessed with home style, accessories and interior design.
I share my townhouse with this crew:
My impossibly cheeky, dinosaur-crazy, 4 year old son. He has more energy than roadrunner on Red Bull and is the sweetest little guy I’ve ever met!
An incredibly tolerant husband. He does not necessarily share all my passions and despite this he puts up with my frequent need for a trip Ikea, helps me decorate and just generally smiles and nods when I am rambling on about my next home project. He is also a bloody amazing cook! Lucky me.
Two super cute kitties: Bella the fluffy one and Oscar the grumpy one.
Why I started blogging
I’ve launched this blog for people who are looking for affordable ways to create a dream home and a lifestyle to match. Whether that means, DIY projects, upcyling or simply shopping in the right places, I’m here to help.
A little over a year ago, we decided that we had outgrown our little two up, two down house and started to look for a proper family home. That’s when we discovered a delightfully quirky, mock-Georgian townhouse, which totally seduced us with it’s:
- big bay window
- laundry room
- under stairs play nook
- 4 level garden
- converted garage (that we will transform in to a gym)
- mudroom
- dream walk in wardrobe/office/mum cave
we were smitten and the rest is history.
After years of being inspired by some amazing US home blogs and being envious of their gloriously spacious homes, that you don’t easily find in the south of England (unless you are a millionaire), I finally had some interesting space of my own to get creative in and write about.
Although it’s certainly in good decorative order, it needs to feel like OUR home. I’m ready to put our stamp all over it! Only snag is, we have a very small budget to make that happen. So small, it’s almost invisible.
That’s the purpose of this blog, put simply. I hope to help people like me, who are looking for affordable ways to create a perfect home for their family and a lifestyle to match. Whether that means, DIY projects, upcyling or simply shopping in the right places, I’m here to help!
Oh, and to indulge my love of writing and photography. Can’t be completely selfless now, can I?
What’s the line up?

I’m in the same boat – my flat doesn’t quite feel like my home yet and I’m trying to make it feel like mine. So total overhaul as cheap as I can do it! X
